President of Brazil visited UAE

The visit of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to the UAE is a momentous occasion that highlights the strong and fruitful partnership between the two countries. As President Lula returns to the Emirates twenty years after his first visit, he will find a country that has developed significantly and is increasingly active in addressing regional and global challenges.

The relationship between Brazil and the UAE is founded on shared values and ideas, oriented towards the future, and cemented in mutual trust and confidence. Over the past two decades, the UAE has become one of Brazil's main partners in the Middle East, achieving impressive diplomatic density in a short period. The agenda between the two countries has expanded beyond economics to areas such as culture, artificial intelligence, space cooperation, modernization of governmental practices, sports, and defense.

The partnership between Brazil and the UAE is strengthened by the engagement of their people. With around 10,000 Brazilians living in the Emirates, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi being important tourist destinations for Brazilians, there is a growing connection between the two nations. Emirati investments have blossomed in many parts of Brazil, while over 30 Brazilian companies have set up branch offices in the UAE.

The trade between Brazil and the UAE has been growing significantly, with the Emirates becoming the main destination for Brazilian products among Arab countries. The two countries are committed to fighting climate change, with Brazil being home to the world's largest rainforest, the Amazon, and having one of the cleanest energy matrices in the world, while the UAE has made significant investments in renewable energy.

Brazil is committed to supporting the UAE as the hosts of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Cop28) this year, while also bidding to host Cop30. Both countries have shown an outstanding capacity for coordination on international issues in multilateral fora, especially in the UN Security Council, where they coincide as non-permanent members.

The visit of President Lula to Abu Dhabi is an opportunity to further advance the successful partnership between Brazil and the UAE. His visit will convey a clear message of confidence in the relationship between the two countries and their capacity to work together for the prosperity and well-being of Brazilians and Emiratis.
